Co-founders Khim Thapa, Hem Thapa and Sanman Thapa Magar between them bring over 70 years of construction and development experience to KHS from both the UK and around the world. One of KHS’s core strengths is the unparalleled technical ability and real-world experience that the owners bring to each project; experience they have leveraged to build a highly competent team capable of delivering every KHS project to an exacting standard. This combination of technical and creative flair ensures they maximise the value of every project, allowing KHS to pay a premium for the host properties they acquire and deliver a fantastic return for their investors.
Khim Thapa BEng (Hons)
Co-founder
Khim is a highly accomplished civil engineer with extensive experience in residential and commercial construction projects around the globe. Much of his international construction experience was forged during his career in the Royal Engineers. This chapter spanned nearly a quarter of a century and saw Khim deliver projects not only in the UK but also in the USA, Belize, Falkland Islands, Kenya, Australia, Qatar, Dubai, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Afghanistan, Cyprus, and Nepal.
Today, Khim oversees KHS’s design team, responsible for the initial design and development process of every KHS project.
Sanman Thapa Magar
Co-founder
Sanman also enjoyed a long and successful career in the Royal Engineers, where he worked for 24 years as a professional Construction Material Technician (CMT). He has managed and led numerous construction projects both in the UK and overseas, covering a broad range of construction and property types working as the project manager/team leader for the construction force. As a qualified Construction Material Technician, he has a great depth of knowledge and experience in quality control, testing, and inspection of various construction materials and products used on construction sites.
Sanman and his team are responsible for the numbers – maximising the value of every KHS project to ensure the best possible return for KHS and its investors.
Hem Thapa BEng (Hons)
Co-founder
Another Royal Engineers Veteran of over two decades, Hem is a registered Incorporated Engineer and a professional Electrical Engineering Manager educated to BEng (Hons) Degree level in Engineering Management. Hem has a hugely impressive track record of managing multiple multi-million-pound construction projects from initial conception to final commissioning. He has worked in a wide variety of roles across the globe, including representing commissioning clients, overseeing main contractors, and managing the construction force.
Hem is the business’s general manager and head of investor relations, liaising with KHS’s panel of private investors.
Derek Mason CEng PrEng MSc (Eng)
Structural Engineer
Derek is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 35 years’ experience in the field of structural engineering. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in South Africa and has worked on projects of various sizes and complexity in various parts of Africa and has worked in the UK since 1998.
Derek led the team that did the third-party check for the Structural Engineering and Technical Review of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, working for the Olympic delivery authority (ODA). This covered both the structural engineering design checks as well as the on-site checking of the construction. Derek is the founding Director of the multi-award-winning niche structural engineering consultancy, Super Structures Associates Limited.
Colin Smith
Planning Consultant
As the head of CJS Planning Services, Colin is one of the country’s leading planning consultants and a fountain of knowledge on all things relating to building and planning regulation. With over 20 years’ experience, Colin’s expertise in respect of Permitted Development Rights makes him highly sought after by developers across the UK.
Joshua Chee-Keong NG
ARB Registered Architect
Josh is an architect with over 10 years’ experience in masterplan, regeneration, mixed-use, residential, hospitality and domestic sectors in the UK, USA and China. Key responsibilities cover wide range of design development from schematic to detailed design, project management and coordination.
